Empowering Teams on Online Learning Day 2025: Why Cyber Security Training Matters for Your Business

    Online Learning Day 2025

Online Learning Day 2025: A Time to Upskill and Stay Secure

Online Learning Day is a global reminder of the value of digital education in a rapidly evolving tech landscape. At The Unite Group, we believe this day is the perfect opportunity for businesses to take a proactive step towards strengthening their digital defences through cyber security training.

With the growing number of online threats targeting small and medium-sized businesses, ensuring your staff understand how to spot and avoid cyber risks has never been more important.

Why Cyber Security Training is Crucial in 2025

While firewalls, antivirus software and secure systems all play a part in your protection, human error remains one of the biggest risks to business security. A single click on a phishing link or weak password could cost thousands in downtime, data loss or reputational damage.

That’s why our cyber security training goes beyond the basics. We help your employees understand real-world threats and how to respond to them, offering practical knowledge that builds a true culture of security within your business.

What Our Cyber Security Training Covers

At The Unite Group, our training sessions are tailored to your organisation’s needs. Whether you’re a team of 5 or 500, we make cyber security accessible and relevant. Key areas include:

    • Phishing and scam awareness
    • Password hygiene and access controls
    • Safe remote working practices
    • Secure file sharing and email use
    • How to respond to suspicious activity

Training is delivered in a way that’s engaging, jargon-free and focused on reducing risk immediately.

Backed by Huntress: Proactive Protection Built In

As part of our training and wider cyber protection services, we integrate cutting-edge tools like Huntress, a proactive threat detection and endpoint protection platform. Huntress monitors your systems in real time and helps identify malicious activity before it causes damage.

This means that not only are your people better trained, but your systems are also better protected.

Compliant, Confident and Cyber Essentials Ready

We also support businesses in achieving Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification. These government-backed schemes are key indicators of a secure business and training plays a central role in meeting the requirements.

By combining our training with managed IT services and endpoint protection, we help clients pass their assessments and reduce their insurance risk too.

Online Learning Day: A Call to Action for Business Leaders

Online Learning Day 2025 is more than just a date on the calendar, it’s a reminder of how critical continued education is for the safety and success of your business. While your social media feed may be full of feel-good quotes and eLearning tips, this is your opportunity to take practical, impactful steps toward safeguarding your organisation.

Cyber threats evolve every single day. New scams, phishing attacks, ransomware, and social engineering tactics are being developed constantly. It’s no longer a question of if your business could be targeted, but when. Education is your first line of defence.

That’s why cyber security training isn’t just a “nice to have”,  it’s an essential part of every modern business strategy. Training your team ensures that everyone, from front-line staff to senior leadership, knows how to recognise suspicious activity, respond to threats quickly, and maintain strong cyber hygiene.

By acknowledging Online Learning Day 2025 through cyber awareness and upskilling, you’re showing that you value not only professional development, but also the long-term security and reputation of your business. Don’t let your people be your weakest link, empower them to become your strongest defence.

Ready to Upskill Your Team and Protect Your Business?

At The Unite Group, we understand that no two businesses are the same. That’s why our cyber security training is designed to be flexible, practical and tailored to your team’s unique needs.

But we don’t stop there. We also offer full Cyber Essentials certification support, ongoing monitoring, and compliance guidance ensuring your training is backed by robust technology and processes.

Education, protection and peace of mind all delivered by a partner who truly cares about keeping your business secure.

  • Why IT Helpdesk Services Are Essential for Modern Businesses

Why IT Helpdesk Services Are Essential for Modern Businesses

Businesses of all sizes rely heavily on technology to stay competitive, productive, and connected. However, with increased reliance on technology comes the inevitable need for efficient and effective IT support. This is where IT Helpdesk Services come in, providing companies with crucial support to maintain smooth operations, address technical issues, and enhance productivity. At The Unite Group, our Managed IT Services include comprehensive IT helpdesk support, ensuring that your business can access reliable tech support whenever it’s needed.

In this blog, we’ll explore the importance of IT helpdesk services, what they entail, and how The Unite Group can support your business with our managed IT solutions.

    What Are IT Helpdesk Services?

IT helpdesk services provide businesses with a dedicated support team responsible for managing and resolving technical issues that employees may encounter. This service includes a wide range of support activities, from troubleshooting software issues and fixing hardware malfunctions to providing guidance on IT policies and security measures. Helpdesk services serve as a central point of contact for all IT-related concerns, giving employees a quick and efficient way to get the help they need to stay productive.

With The Unite Group’s IT helpdesk, your employees have access to experienced technicians who can assist with a wide variety of issues, whether it’s resolving login problems, troubleshooting connectivity issues, or configuring new devices. Our team of IT experts is just a call or email away, ready to provide immediate assistance to keep your business operations running smoothly.

Key Benefits of IT Helpdesk Services

    1. Increased Productivity

One of the primary benefits of IT helpdesk services is the ability to minimise downtime. When employees experience technical issues, they may spend hours trying to fix the problem or waiting for assistance. A dedicated IT helpdesk eliminates this frustration by providing quick and effective solutions, allowing employees to get back to work sooner.

By having immediate access to support, businesses can minimise productivity disruptions and keep employees focused on their tasks. At The Unite Group, our managed IT services are designed to address issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to your business operations.

    2. Expert Support and Problem Resolution

IT helpdesk services are staffed by trained technicians who specialise in a range of technical areas, from software troubleshooting to hardware configuration. This expertise allows helpdesk personnel to quickly diagnose and resolve issues, reducing the time and effort required from employees.

The Unite Group’s IT helpdesk team is made up of experienced professionals who can handle even the most complex technical issues. By partnering with us, you gain access to a team with expertise across various IT disciplines, ensuring that your business receives the high-quality support it deserves.

    3. Enhanced Security and Compliance

Data security is more important than ever. IT helpdesk services play a key role in maintaining security by implementing and enforcing security policies, helping employees recognise potential threats, and ensuring that systems are protected from vulnerabilities.

The Unite Group’s managed IT services include robust security measures that prevent data breaches and cyber threats. Our helpdesk team can provide guidance on security best practices, such as password policies and secure data storage, helping to keep your business compliant with industry standards and regulations.

    4. Cost Efficiency

Maintaining an in-house IT team can be costly, particularly for small and medium-sized businesses. Outsourcing IT helpdesk services through a managed IT provider is a cost-effective alternative, offering the same high-quality support without the expenses associated with hiring full-time IT staff.

The Unite Group offers affordable managed IT solutions that include comprehensive helpdesk support, allowing you to control costs while accessing expert IT assistance. Our services can be tailored to meet your business’s needs, ensuring you receive the right level of support at a budget-friendly price.

    5. Scalability and Flexibility

As your business grows, so will your IT needs. IT helpdesk services provide the flexibility and scalability necessary to support your evolving business requirements. With a managed IT provider, it’s easy to scale services up or down based on demand, whether you’re expanding your team or launching new projects.

The Unite Group’s managed IT services are fully scalable, giving you the freedom to adjust your support levels as your business changes. This adaptability ensures that you have the resources and support you need at every stage of growth.

A chat with Sarah, one of our Client Account Managers

    [et_pb_section admin_label=”section”] [et_pb_row admin_label=”row”] [et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]
Sarah one of our client account managers

We introduce you to our latest member of the team, Sarah. Sarah has joined our team as one of our Client Account Managers. Sarah has been out and about recently meeting with clients, attending networking events and even 2 expos! She has had a great response from many of our clients here at The Unite Group.

We recently had a chat with Sarah to find out a bit more about her and her role…

Growing up, what did you want to be?

I wanted to be an engineer. I was the first girl in our secondary school to do technology as an option. Initially, being the only female was a bit daunting. But I soon learned how to handle myself! My first project at 14 years old was designing an alarm system for the whole school. For various reasons, I went into optics when I left school and later became a registered ophthalmic dispensing optician. My love of technology has played a part in my career.

What is your role at The Unite Group and how did you end up where you are now?

My role at The Unite Group as a Client Account Manager is to develop strong trusting relationships with both existing and new clients. A vital part of this is listening being empathetic, proactive, authentic, and trustworthy.

I was looking for a new opportunity that really involved making a difference every day. A former colleague of mine was chatting with Paul (one of the directors). He mentioned that he was looking to expand the team, so she recommended me. I met Paul and Dean for a casual chat, and the rest, as they say, is history. After just 30 minutes, I knew that this was a company I wanted to be a part of. I loved their integrity, openness, honesty, culture, and banter from that first chat.

What does a typical day look like at The Unite Group?

My typical day starts with checking emails and messages. Then, catch up with the team and follow up on client projects and issues. Most days, I will have a couple of client meetings, do some research into new solutions and then finish off with any admin for the day. Every day is different, and sometimes you get something unexpected pop up which adds to the mix – in a good way!

What is your most and least favourite part of the job?

My favourite part is that I love working with my clients to help them achieve the best solution that fits their business requirements; no two companies are the same, and the individuality of each account motivates me. Having clients from varied sectors means there is always something new to learn and share.

My least favourite going through my email inbox after a holiday; you just never know what you will find!

    What is your greatest achievement?

One of my proudest achievements is being a top 10 finalist in the British Franchising Awards in 2009. It was out of 35,000 national franchisees. I was interviewed by a panel of six at HSBC headquarters in Canary Wharf, one of which was the late Sir Bernard Ingham; it was incredibly daunting but exhilarating all at the same time. Whilst I didn’t win, it was such a privilege to have made it to the final. This was a result of my exceptional client retention and my innovative technology-based solution that significantly streamlined and enhanced my business.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?

On a professional level, I’d love to have more responsibility within the company and expand my knowledge base; I’m fascinated by AI and how it can develop in a commercial setting.

Personally, I’d like to have a traditional cottage with land to grow all my fruit and veg and a little pop-up restaurant that would feed my love of cooking for people on an ad hoc basis.

How do you unwind outside of work?

I love cooking, and I’m halfway through writing my 5th recipe book – so lots of creative cooking happens in our house! Cooking and recipe creation my happy place!  Beyond that, we love walking our dogs on the beautiful Northumberland beaches where we live.

If you would like to learn more about how Sarah and our team here at The Unite Group can help you with your business technology needs, call us on, 0191 466 1050 or email us at info@theunitegroup.co.uk. We would be happy to discuss how our services could improve your company’s efficiency and take the headache of tech away from you.

A chat with Cassandra, one of our Client Account Managers

We introduce you to our latest member of the team, Cassandra. Cassandra has joined our sales team as one of our Customer Account Managers. She has fit into the team perfectly and has had a great response from many of our clients here at The Unite Group.

We recently had a chat with Cassandra to find out a bit more about her and her role…

Growing up, what did you want to be?

From studying Art and Design at college at the age of 18, I was always interested in creative hobbies and liked to sketch and doodle and had a good imagination with storytelling. I always dreamt about going into animation and working with creative people. The role I have landed in is slightly different to this, however, I am excited to see where this role takes me.

What is your role at The Unite Group and how did you end up where you are now?

My role with The Unite Group as a Client Account Manager is to develop relationships with existing and new clients. Provide high levels of customer service by reviewing their needs and understanding their business. Organising my own diary and face-to-face engagement. Promoting up-to-date information, advice, and guidance on all the company’s services and products. Sourcing new opportunities through networking and attending group memberships to raise the company’s profile.

I was looking for a new opportunity after recently being made redundant and was approached by The Unite Group after meeting and building a relationship with some of the team. I feel like I have finally found the right role for me and really excited for the future.

What does a typical day look like at The Unite Group?

My typical day at The Unite Group usually starts off with a team update, then planning the week ahead with appointments, making calls and sending emails, updating company systems, visiting clients, attending networking events, and updating social media with posts. No two days are the same and that’s what I love about my role!

What is your most and least favorite part of the job?

My favourite part of the job is meeting and talking to people as I find people very interesting. I love being able to help people and make an impact and learning new skills.

My least favourite is all the admin involved and all the systems to remember.

    What is your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement has got to be becoming a mother and raising my daughter into a caring thoughtful and polite young lady.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?

Within the next ten years, I want to travel around the world and experience new things to push myself out of my comfort zone. I also want to be successful in my job and live life to the full!

How do you unwind outside of work?

Outside of work, I like to keep fit by attending gym classes and going on long walks. I also enjoy socialising with friends. As well as going to music festivals.

If you would like to learn more about how Cassandra and The Unite Group can help you with your business technology needs, call us on, 0191 466 1050 or email us at info@theunitegroup.co.uk.
